A resort stretched over three kilometres
Les Menuires is not a single centre: the resort runs from Preyerand and Les Bruyères in the north down to Reberty and Les Granges in the south, by way of La Croisette, its commercial heart. End to end that is three kilometres and a hundred and fifty metres of height difference.
Getting the sector wrong at drop-off is no small thing with luggage and ski gear. The name of the sector, and the residence if you have it, spares an uphill walk nobody wants at the end of a journey.
Equipment and luggage
A stay in Les Menuires rarely travels light: skis or snowboards, boots, sometimes equipment for children. Available volume depends on the vehicle, which is why we ask for the exact number of items when you book rather than the passenger count alone.
A party of four with four pairs of skis and four suitcases does not fit the same car as a party of four on a weekend break. Asking at booking avoids discovering it in the airport car park.
Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, on the same road
The Belleville valley climbs through Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, a listed village at 1450 metres, before reaching Les Menuires and then Val Thorens. Many stays base themselves there for the village character while skiing the same area.
For a transfer that means Saint-Martin lies on the way rather than off it: dropping there costs some fifteen minutes less than Les Menuires, and access to the village stays practicable in winter.
The valley in summer
Les Menuires does not close in summer. The resort opens a bike park linked to the Val Thorens one, and the Belleville valley serves as a start for walks to the Lac du Lou or the Col de la Lune. Visitor numbers bear no comparison with winter, and the road drives without constraint.
Summer transfers are therefore simpler to arrange: no special equipment, no changeover Saturday, stable journey times. It is also the season when a full-day hire earns its place, linking several trailheads in a row.
