Moving through two square kilometres
Monaco fits on a small footprint but stacks over several levels linked by tunnels and public lifts. An address in Monte-Carlo and one in Fontvieille can be eight hundred metres apart as the crow flies and still need a full detour by car. So we ask for the exact address and the access level rather than the district alone.
You enter the principality by the lower, middle or upper corniche depending on where you start and when. From Nice airport the lower corniche is shortest but most exposed to coastal traffic; the A8 then the Monaco exit stays more predictable at busy hours.
Grand Prix, Yacht Show and event days
During Grand Prix week in late May the circuit is laid over the public roads: part of the centre closes in phases from the Wednesday, and access follows imposed routes that change from day to day. The Monaco Yacht Show in late September has a comparable effect around Port Hercule.
In those periods drop-off happens at the nearest authorised point, never at the exact address, and the run from Nice can take twice as long. We give you the meeting point the day before, once the closures are published.
Arriving without taking the road
Monaco has a heliport at Fontvieille, linked to Nice airport by a flight of about seven minutes. We cover both ends of that journey: the drop-off on the Nice side and the pickup at Fontvieille, which has its own vehicle access.
Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is underground and has several exits a long way apart — Fontvieille to the south, Sainte-Dévote to the north. Coming out of the wrong one can cost a quarter of an hour on foot, so we agree the exit before you arrive.
Parking in the principality
Monaco has almost no on-street parking: everything happens in some forty underground public car parks connected to street level by lifts. A vehicle double-parked on a Monegasque road is spotted within minutes.
For an evening out or a business meeting, that means a chauffeur does not simply wait outside. He parks and comes back up when called, with five to ten minutes' delay worth anticipating — a detail that changes how you set a departure time.

How does pickup work on a Grand Prix day?
