The Geneva — Chamonix route
We leave the airport through the French sector and take the A40 towards Mont-Blanc, exit at Passy, then the N205 to the entrance of the Chamonix valley. 88 kilometres, about 1h10. The final stretch runs past the Diosaz waterfall and opens onto the valley facing the massif — one of the finest approaches of our Alpine routes.
In winter, the Chamonix valley runs opposite to other resorts: day-trippers come up from Geneva in the morning, which loads the N205 in late morning rather than late afternoon. Our preferred window remains midday, when shuttle traffic is at its smoothest.
